Vlad Dobrin is a MD/PhD student at Georgetown University School of Medicine and the Interdisciplinary Program in Neuroscience. His research studies the neural architecture and plasticity of speech production pathways in the human brain. His work combines EEG, behavioral training paradigms, and acoustic analysis to examine how listeners learn novel phonetic contrasts, framed within internal-model and dual-stream theories of speech motor control. He integrates representational similarity analysis to track how neural representations shift as learners acquire new phonological categories. Alongside his neuroscience training, Vlad worked to write and implement AI policy at Georgetown University School of Medicine, leading the Machine Learning in Medicine club and advocating for the integration of AI into the medical school curriculum. He served as the School of Medicine representative on the GUMC Artificial Intelligence working group, helping guide faculty, staff, and students toward appropriate and ethical use of AI tools.
