Why one size does not fit all: earning family trust in pediatric AI
Description

In pediatrics, trust means trust from parents and caregivers and, increasingly, from the children themselves. This panel examines what families need to know when AI is part of their child’s care, including:

  • what a family-facing AI policy should contain
  • how to explain honestly what a model was and was not validated on
  • which children are missing from training data, and what that means for equity
  • how consent and assent should evolve as a child grows up

Bringing together clinical, data science and family perspectives, the panel explores how institutions can earn trust that lasts.
