Dr. Morgan is a board-certified anesthesiologist, and the founder and President at Waya® Health. Dr. Morgan’s interest in extended reality started shortly after completing his residency in 2015. Seeing the vast potential for extended reality in healthcare, he and his team began building systems that pioneer extended reality technologies for patient-centered applications. Waya® is a healthcare technology company composed of practicing physicians and software developers focused on creating assessments, diagnostics and therapeutic solutions to help patients. Today, Waya® Health has become a company with national reach, and their software used by healthcare institutions across the United States.

Dr. Morgan completed medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY and completed his residency in anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. While at the Cleveland Clinic, he designed, developed, and patented a system for the collection and the environmentally friendly destruction of controlled substance waste. Prior to starting Waya Health, Dr. Morgan was a consultant for efforts relating to digital health, wearable devices, internet of things (IoT) technologies, and physiological tracking where his knowledge and expertise residing at the intersection of these technologies was utilized. He is currently a practicing anesthesiologist at Watauga Medical Center in Boone North Carolina. He has created educational programs to guide healthcare providers through the process of starting their own immersive care programs and has also advanced educational efforts for residents focused on the use of extended reality. Dr. Morgan was appointed to the inaugural editorial board of the Journal of Medical Extended Reality and is also a Founding Member of the American Medical Extended Reality Association (AMXRA). Dr. Morgan is also a Member of Extended Reality Safety Intelligence committee for healthcare, and a member of the executive committee for the Medical Device Innovation Consortium’s MXR effort in collaboration with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

With the meteoric rise of AI, comes an intense need for high-bandwidth modalities to curate and effectuate data. In 2025 Dr. Morgan completed his book “Convergent Health”, which is focused on how personalized data and extended reality will catalyze the transformation of healthcare. It dives head-first into which data is actionable for the major health issues facing our society today and interweaves a multi-pronged rationale as to why extended reality is set to be a key element in driving the transformation.
